Southwest China Travel: 8 Days Scenic & Cultural Yunnan Guizhou Tour

Day 1 Kunming Arrival

Our Kunming private tour guide will pick up at the exit of the airport holding with a welcome signal "Kunming Private Tour" . Then transfer to your hotel. 

Relax during the remainder of the day. In the evening you can go to the local market to experience the local life, and taste delicious Kunming cuisine.

Day 2 Kunming–Stone Forest–Xingyi

After breakfast, drive 85 km to the typical Karst landform - Stone Forest. Walk into the Greater Stone Forest, marvel at groups of gray-black stone peaks and climb up a pavilion to have a panoramic view of the intricate stone forest. 

It covers an area of 2,670 square kilometers and is divided into several scenic areas with names like Greater Stone Forest, Lesser Stone forest, Outer Stone Forest, Underground Stone Forest, Stone Forest Lake, and Da Dieshui Fall. The Stone Forest was formed by karst two million to thirty mullion years ago. The Forest was contains peaks, pillars, stalagmites, depressions, underground rivers, and caves. The fantastic stone pinnacles rising abruptly from the ground resemble a huge, dense forest. Many of the stone pinnacles are associated with legends. 

Afterwards, head for Xingyi, the southwest gate of Guizhou Province. Stay overnight in Xingyi.

Day 3 Xingyi

Today, you private tour guide will lead you reserved for a nature tour around Xingyi. You will first visit the Wanfenglin (Forest of Ten Thousand Peaks). As its name implies, there are thousands of bizarre looking peaks in the Wanfenglin Scenic Area, actually, up to 20000. 

Due to its unique karst landscape and beautiful scenery, it is also regarded as a Wonder Under Heaven. We then proceed to the Maling River Canyon and go for a 2-hour trek at the so called Tianxing Hualang (Heaven Star Gallery) within the scenic area, where we are fascinated by the amazing scenery of deep canyons as well as the majestic and unique karst waterfalls. 

Afterwards, drive back to your hotel in the afternoon.

Day 4 Xingyi – Huangguoshu Waterfall

After breakfast, drive to Anshun. Visit Huangguohu Waterfall, the largest in Asia, which reaches 76 meters high, 81 meters wide. The scene changes while you are standing in different places. 

Your lunch will be arranged at the local restaurant popular with the local people to stay away from the tourists' meals.

Then take a visit to Tianxingqiao Scenic Spot. Tiangxinqiao Scenic Spot is composed of three areas: Tianxin Cave, Potted Landscape on Water and Stone Forest in Water, 7km south of Huangguoshu Waterfall. 

After the Anshun city day tour, drive back to your hotel in Anshun downtown.

Day 5 Anshun-Guiyang

In the morning, drive to the Guiyang downtown. Upon arrival, first head to Qingyan Ancient Town, 29km south of the city of Guiyang. It is one of the most famous historical and cultural towns in Guizhou Province dating back to the year of 1378. The ancient town is elaborately designed and artistically built with scattered temples, old Ming and Qing buildings, well known for exhibiting five hundreds painted arhat sculptures. 

Your lunch will be arranged at the local restaurant popular with the local people to stay away from the tourists' meals.

In the afternoon, return to the city center and visit Jiaxiu Pavillion which is the symbol of Guiyang city, with a long history of more than 400 years. It was originally built based a giant rock dating back to Ming Dynasty ( 1368 - 1644). In Qing Dynasty it was rebuilt for several times and the present pavilion dates back to 1909. It is a three-story pavilion 20 meters high with white stone railings, Nanming River passing by at its front. 

At the end of the day tour, drive back to your hotel in Guiyang downtown. 

Day 6 Guiyang – Kaili

In the early morning, drive from Guiyang to Kaili. The first stop is to visit Langde Upper village, which is also known as the Miao's Ethnic Village Museum and will present visitors an authentic experience of Miao. As a very popular minority attraction, Langde Upper Village is both mysterious and exciting, featuring Miao style houses "Diaojiaolou".

Then we will continue to visit Shiqiao Miao Village where you will have a unique chance to learn about the ancient paper-making technique. 

Then transfer back to Kaili hotel.

Day 7 Kaili–Liping–Zhaoxing

In the morning, you will be driven to Zhaoxing Dong village of Liping county (2 hours), you will see another minority culture and customs—Dong Minority. 

After lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, then continue your tour to Tang’an Dong village. The biggest living museum of Dong Minority is actually the whole Tang'an Dong village. Collection of the living museum consists of people living here and their events. The villagers’ daily use articles, production tools, as well as their clothing and ornament, even themselves are part of exhibits. To enjoy the splendid views of Tang'an Dong Village, there are several spots worth appreciating.

After that, you will hike from Tang’an to Shage Dong Village (3 hours), then back to Zhaoxing Dong Village.

Stay overnight in Zhaoxing downtown.

Day 8 Zhaoxing-Guiyang

After breakfast, you will visit local bazar. Different from Miao market, it offers lots of interesting things to see and buy. 

Then you will pay a visit to the famous Basha Miao Village to visit so-called the Last Gunman Tribe. Through hundreds of years, they have been guarding their homeland. Still today the men in Basha preserve their musketeer heritage, which makes Basha the only tribe that can legally carry real guns in China. A strong sense of precaution inherited from their ancestors keeps this village isolated from the outside world. The villagers lead a self-sufficient life in the hilly areas and retain the dressing and living customs hundreds of years ago. 

After lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, drive back to Guiyang downtown (airport). Our service ends.
