9 Days Southwest China Experience Tour with Rice Terraces from Shanghai

D1 Shanghai Arrival

Upon on your arrival, our guide will meet you at the exit of Shanghai airport with a welcome sign "China Private Tour". Transfer to your hotel in Shanghai for checking in. The rest day is free on your own to explore Shanghai city or adjust the jetlag.

D2 Shanghai

After breakfast, our guide will take you to visit the Jade Buddha Temple, a sacred 19th-century structure built during the Qing Dynasty. Marvel at the majestic architecture of the temple and listen as your guide explains the captivating history of the construction. 

Next, you will visit the Shanghai Museum, it is one of highlights in Shanghai city. The museum design is in keeping with Feng Shui principles. It houses a great permanent collection and hosts various exhibitions with over 120,000 pieces that showcase the 5000 years of China's history.

In the afternoon, take an insight into the Yuyuan Garden. It was a private garden of the Pan family in the Ming Dynasty. It was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai after it was completed. The garden is unique in its design. It perfectly blends decorative halls, elaborate pavilions, glittering pools, zigzag bridges, pagodas, archways, and impressive rockeries.

Continue your tour to visit the Bund Area in Shanghai to various architectural styles as well as the modern part of Shanghai city. It is a famous waterfront on the west bank of Huangpu River and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai.

The last stop is Nanjing Road. It is the heart of Shanghai, the road is split into East-West and a large part of it is for pedestrian-only. A huge array of shopping malls, small shops, and boutiques along authentic food is something not to be missed out.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Shanghai.

D3 Shanghai--Chengdu

Free on your own to go around Shanghai city for sightseeing or shopping, you will be taken to Shanghai airport at a suitable time for your flight to Chengdu. Once you arrive, you will be picked up from Chengdu airport by our local guide, transfer to your hotel in Chengdu.

About 17:00 your private guide will meet you at your hotel in Chengdu downtown holding with the welcome sign " Chengdu Private Tour" . And you will be transferred to a nice hot pot restaurant and teach you how to do the hot pot, then you enjoy your dinner.

The following most famous show in the opera are:
"Changing Faces", "Fire Spitting", "Rolling Lamp", "Folk Music", "Hand Shadow" and "Puppet Opera".

Your guide will send you into the Shufengyayun tea house. After helping you find your seat, they'll leave you to enjoy the show at your leisure.

21:30 Drive back to your hotel.

Day 4 Chengdu

After breakfast, you will have chance to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which is about 10 km from Chengdu downtown. This beautifully laid out park is the home of about 80 giant pandas and some other rare animals, such as red panda, black-necked crane, white crane ect. Walking along the excellently designed walkways, you could have a good angle through the open enclosures of giant pandas.

Next, head to visit the Jinsha Site Runis, which is the museum established in the Jinsha ruins site, and is also a museum to show categories of ancient Shu culture in Sichuan area during Shang and Zhou dynasty.

In the afternoon, take the chance to visit the Wenshu Monastery. It is the best-preserved Buddhist temple in Chengdu. It is the home of the Buddhist Association of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City

The last stop for the tour is Jinli Ancient Street. It is “The First Street of Shu Kingdom”, and it’s a famous snack street in Chengdu. The ambiance was like stepping back into the past, well presented and historically brilliant. Evening stroll is extreme beautiful, and picturesque with the lanterns lit up and the street performances are also wonderful. 

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Chengdu.

D5 Chengdu

After breakfast, drive about 2 hours to visit the famous UNESCO site around Chengdu-Leshan Giant Buddha. Sitting on the confluence of three rivers in Leshan, the 71-meter-high Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest Maitreya Buddha statue carved out of a cliff in the world. Ancient wisdom and regilious faith of Buddhism created the giant and magnificent cultural treasure, and now is world-known as an amazing UNESCO Natural & Cultural Heritage property in Leshan, nearby Chengdu.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. It is the great technological achievement of ancient China. For more than 2,300 years of irrigation, Dujiangyan has benefited the local people just as it prevents Min River basin from annual flooding

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Chengdu.

D6 Chengdu--Guilin

After breakfast, transfer to Chengdu airport to catch your flight to Guilin. Once you arrive, our Guilin local guide will meet you at the exit of the airport. Transfer to the downtown of Guilin.

Starts your Guilin tour at The Elephant Trunk Hill  is one of the four top attractions in Guilin that all visitors coming to town usually stop by. Regarded as the symbol of Guilin city, the site is the most famous karstic hill formation out of the many rising straight out of the ground throughout the city.

Next, you will visit the Reed Flute Cave, being a city of wonders that ranks on the top list of destinations for its numerous heaven-like landscapes, Guilin is without any doubts the city where to enjoy different kinds of sceneries among which the enigmatic Reed Flute Cave is one of the most renowned one.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Guilin.

D7 Guilin

After breakfast, our guide will take you go for a sightseeing along the Li River. Guilin is famous for its picturesque scenery, and the best way to see it is from the deck of Li River Cruise ships. In the morning you will depart from your hotel and be transferred to the Zhujiang Pier (about 1 hour drive) for a 4.5 hours wonderful cruise. You will enjoy the unique mountains, peaceful green fields, farms and villages with water buffalos, cows wondering around on both sides of the river bank.

In the afternoon you will disembark at the old town Yangshuo. Having a history of more than 1,400 years, West Street is the oldest street in Yangshuo. You will have some time to explore the old town's lovely attractions.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Guilin.

D8 Guilin

After breakfast, you will have chance to visit the rice terrace as well as the minority village in Guilin. Drive you to Long Sheng County which is featured with rich and elegant folk customs. We will take the country road and arrive at Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces which have been called "an absolute one under the heaven and the first one in the world”. The magnificent terraces look like silver belt in sprit, green wave in summer, golden tower in fall and dragon plays in water in winter.

In the afternoon, spend your time to explore the Yao and Zhuang Minority Village where you can feel the real life of locals, learn about the ethnic culture there. You will experience the village of Red Yao people's community, which is surrounded by beautiful forests.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Guilin.

Day 9 Guilin Departure

Free on your own to explore Guilin city until transfer to Guilin airport or train station for your next destination!
