Transportation here is very convenient. Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport has flights to destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Nanjing, Nanning and Yinchuan, as well as Taipei and Busan. Train routes extend to Guangzhou, Beijing, Zhanjiang, Changsha and Wuxi. The highways extend in all directions, and it is worthwhile to mention that a superhighway connects Changsha and the city. New roads connect the city center to a number of scenic areas, making travel by car very convenient.
How to Get to Zhangjiajie
By Air
There is one airport in Zhangjiajie, called Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. It is located about 4KM away from the downtown of Zhangjiajie city. It offers direct flights to and from over 40 of China’s major cities, such as Shanghai, Beijing, Changsha, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Xi’an, and a couple of international cities like Seoul and Bangkok. Most flights land in Zhangjiajie in the evening. Passengers can the take airport shuttle buses or bus nos. 401, 402 or 4 to the city center. It takes about 50 RMB by taxi.
By Train
Taking train is not recommend for tourists who want to make a Zhangjiajie tour even it connected with the most cities in China. Please be noted that the regular train is such a time-consuming way that you will need to spend more than 10 or even 24 hours to get to Zhangjiajie from popular ports of entry like Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing.
By Bus
Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station is right next to Zhangjiajie Railway
Station, operating long-distance buses to and from nearby cities such as
Changsha, Changde, Yueyuang and Fenghuang.
How to Get around Zhangjiajie
By Public City Bus
There are ten bus lines within Zhangjiajie City in total. They service hotels, hospitals, banks, supermarkets and can be very convenient. The bus fare is only CNY1 and buses operate at 30 minute intervals. For example, Bus No.5 goes to the Tujia Folk Customs Park where local folk culture can be experienced.
By Taxi
Traveling around Zhangjiajie City by taxi is inexpensive because of the city’s smaller size. The flag-fall price is only CNY5; every additional kilometer costs CNY 1.6.Taxis can be hailed anywhere. The distance from the eastern part of the city to the western costs only CNY15. It is also very convenient to take taxi anywhere in the city to the Zhangjiajie Railway Station and the Zhangjiajie Lotus Airport and costs only about CNY20.
