Up to now, the company has developed 30 games of different themes which have sold well globally. With the total downloads of 70 million, Dr. Panda has become the world's largest independent paid mobile game developer.

Out of curiosity, the reporter from gochengdu.cn experienced a game called Dr. Panda Town developed by Thijs's company, before the interview. In the game, a personified panda with glasses live with a little boy together. They get up in the morning, have breakfast, go to the park to play with other friends, buy food in the supermarket, and barbecue with their friends, and go to bed at night ... The game details almost everything of young children's daily lives.

Thijs likes the giant panda since he was a little kid, and has always wanted to be engaged in business related to children. After prudent consideration for some time, he decided to develop a panda-themed mobile game for kids. In 2011, Thijs and his wife founded their company in Chengdu and named it Dr. Panda. Thijs said with a smile: "It was the best decision for us to choose panda as the main character of our games because kids around the world like the animal and our company is based in the home of the giant panda, and everyone in the company is a panda lover."

In addition to the game featuring town life, Dr. Panda has launched many other role-playing games in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting including restaurant, supermarket, hospital, swimming pool, veggie garden and kindergarten. Targeting children at the age of 3-8, the games are of no language and cultural barriers, and are suitable for kids throughout the globe.

"The name of our games Dr. Panda sounds funny and reliable, because they are both interesting and serious," said Thijs, adding that the games are popular with kids and their parents across the world. Children can apply the knowledge and skills they learn from the games to their real lives.
