Overview
Kunming, also known as Spring city. It is a multi-ethnic city. At present, there are 26 ethnic groups living in this city. There are Han, Yi, Hui, Bai, Miao, Hani, Zhuang, Dai, Lisu and other ethnic groups living here. The ethnic minorities living in Kunming are hospitable, good at singing and dancing, and their folk customs are simple. The unique flavor of food, colorful clothing, or different styles of residential buildings, can make people feel the distinct national characteristics. Kunming is one of the top ten tourist cities in China. The main scenic spots are Stone forest, Dianchi Lake, Anning hot spring, Jiuxiang, Yangzonghai, jiaozi snow mountain and other famous scenic spots.

1. Green Lake (Cuihu)
It is located on the west side of Wuhua Mountain. The lake is divided into four parts by two long banks. The banks are covered with an abundance of willow trees and dotted with a variety of vibrant lotuses. This contrast between the pale green of the willows and the array of colors in the lotuses makes the park a popular destination for nature lovers. During the winter months, black-headed gulls from Siberia migrate to Green Lake and entertain the crowds of visitors as they circle around and snap up bread, usefully provided by a herd of local vendors, thrown up into the air by tourists.

2. Yuantong Temple
Yuantong Temple is located in Yuantong street in Kunming city. It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Kunming. It has a history of more than 1200 years. It is also the largest temple in Kunming,the initial name "Butuoluo temple".

3. Dragon Gate
Kunming Dragon Gate Scenic Area, also called Longmen, is known for its long history of Taoist and Buddhist grottoes. It is located on the sharp cliff side of the West Hill. The history of the huge project of Dragon Gate can be dated back to the period of the Qing Dynasty (from 1781 to 1853), taking seven decades to complete.

4. West Hill (Xishan Mountain)
West Hill is one of the core scenic spots of National Forest Park, national AAAA scenic spot and national Dianchi Lake tourist resort. It is located 15km away from the west suburb of Kunming City, and is composed of Huating mountain, Taihua mountain and Luohan mountain. It has more than 40 kilometers of mountains and mountains, with an altitude of 1900-2350m. It is said that in ancient times, there was a phoenix resting, but those who saw it did not know it. It was called Biji mountain. Because of its shape like a reclining Buddha, it is also called wofoshan.

5. Dianchi Lake
Dianchi Lake, located at the foot of West Hill, is the largest freshwater lake in Kunming City. Historically, it has been a resort for vacation and summer vacation. It is 39km long from north to south, 13.5km wide from east to west, with an average width of about 8km. The lakeshore line is about 200km long, with a surface area of 300km2, the maximum depth of the lake is 8m, the average depth is 5m, and the water storage capacity is 1.57 billion. It is the sixth largest inland freshwater lake in China.

6. Yunnan Nationalities Museum
Yunnan Nationalities Museum, situated in the beautiful Kunming Dianchi National Tourist Resort, covers an area of 133,300 square metres. Open to the public with a gross floor area of 30,000 square metres, the whole complex is shaped like a cloistered courtyard. As a standing council unit of the Museums Association of China and a member of the Southwest China Museum Association, it is rated as a national first-class museum, the largest nationalities museum in China and a famous museum in Asia. 

7. Stone  Forest
Stone Forest Scenic Spot is located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County of Kunming, 78 kilometers away from Kunming downtown, covering an area of over 350 square kilometers. At present, the main tourist areas are: Shilin scenic spot, Heisongyan scenic spot, Feilong Waterfall and Changhu lake scenic spot. Shilin scenic spot is "World Geopark" and "World Natural Heritage scenery".

8. Yunnan Ethnic Village
Yunnan Ethnic Village, located in the southwest suburb of Kunming, is a national tourist resort on the Bank of Dianchi Lake. It is a national AAAA tourist attraction. It covers an area of 89 hectares and is 8km away from the urban area. It is backed by Dianchi Lake and faces the famous scenic spots such as Xishan Forest Park, Daguan Park and Zhenghe park. It is a new tourist resort in Yunnan Province and a window to show the society, culture and customs of 26 ethnic groups in Yunnan Province.

9. Dongchuan Red Land
Dongchuan red land is considered by experts to be the most powerful red land in the world except Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and its scenery is more magnificent than that of Brazil. Dongchuan red land refers to Xintian Township, which is more than 40 kilometers southwest of Dongchuan District, Kunming city. There is a place called "Huashitou" (located at the 109 kilometer stele). The area with a radius of nearly 100 Li is the most concentrated, typical and characteristic red soil on the Red Soil Plateau of Yunnan.

10. Zhenqing Temple
Zhenqing temple is located in the northeast corner of the intersection of Tuodong road and Baita Road in the center of Kunming, covering an area of 2.13 hectares (32 mu). It is a relatively complete ancient building complex with more buildings of Ming and Qing Dynasties preserved. It is of great value to the study of architectural history, art history, religious history and cultural exchange history between Yunnan and Central Plains.
