10 Days Memorable China Yangtze River Cruise Tour from Hong Kong

Day 1 Hong Kong Arrival

Make your own flight arrangement to Hongkong. Pick up service is arranged at Hongkong airport by our local guide, you will find a welcome sign at the exit of the airport. Transfer to your hotel in Hongkong. The rest day is free on your own to explore Hongkong.

Day 2 Hong Kong

After breakfast, our guide will take your to visit The Peak. The best way to conquer Hong Kong’s most famous mountain is via the Peak Tram. Reach the tram by first taking the MTR to Central, and then follow the signposts up to Garden Road and the Peak Tram terminus. One of the best ways to take in the view is at one of the restaurants or bars inside either The Peak Tower or Peak Galleria. A restaurant that continually elicits positive reviews is Café Deco in Peak Galleria, which offers an arsenal of tasty international cuisine served against a stunning backdrop.

In the afternoon, you will have chance to visit the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery. This is undoubtedly the most impressive temple in Hong Kong, and the temple is actually underselling itself as in reality it boasts 12,800 miniature Buddha statues and images. Hong Kong temples are quite relaxed in regards to rules and regulations; however, there are some Temple Customs to follow.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Hongkong.

Day 3 Hong Kong-Guilin

Take the early flight from Hong Kong to Guilin, our local guide and driver will pick up then starts your Guilin Tour.

Today, first take a visit to the iconic Sight-Elephant Trunk Hill, which is one of the four top Guilin attractions that all visitors coming to town usually stop by. Regarded as the symbol of Guilin city, the site is the most famous karstic hill formation out of the many rising straight out of the ground throughout the city. 

Then we head to Fubo Hill or Wave-Subduing Hill, which another of Guilin's unique scenic spots. Natural scenery - rocks and stalactites and the man-made cloister and pavilions blend to make this a memorable sight. Climbing along the winding stone stairway to the hilltop provides a panoramic view of Guilin City.

Lunch will be arranged at a great local restaurant to try local food.

After lunch, continue your tour to Reed Flute Cave, which is known as "the Palace of Natural Arts” is located in the northwest of Guilin City, 5 kilometers away from the center of the city. It is a cave on the southern shoulder of the Guangming Hill (Bright Hill) ancd is one of the most extraordinary scenic spots in Guilin. Counted as "must-see" sights in Guilin as well as Elephant Trunk Hill, Fubo Hill and Folded Brocade Hill.

In the afternoon, move on to the Seven-star Park. The park is named after the Seven Star Mountain, where there are seven peaks just like the stars falling from the sky. It is a micro version of Guilin scenery. Transfer back to your hotel after the tour.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Guilin.

D4 Guilin

After breakfast, our guide will take you go for a sightseeing along the Li River. Guilin is famous for its picturesque scenery, and the best way to see it is from the deck of Li River Cruise ships. In the morning you will depart from your hotel and be transferred to the Zhujiang Pier (about 1 hour drive) for a 4.5 hours wonderful cruise. You will enjoy the unique mountains, peaceful green fields, farms and villages with water buffalos, cows wondering around on both sides of the river bank.

In the afternoon you will disembark at the old town Yangshuo. Having a history of more than 1,400 years, West Street is the oldest street in Yangshuo. You will have some time to explore the old town's lovely attractions.

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Guilin.

D5 Guilin--Chengdu

After breakfast, transfer to Guilin airport for your flight to Chengdu. Once you arrive, our Chengdu local guide will meet you at the exit of airport with a welcome sign " Chengdu Private Tour. Transfer to Chengdu downtown for your tour. Firstly, you will have chance to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, which is about 10 km from Chengdu downtown. This beautifully laid out park is the home of about 80 giant pandas and some other rare animals, such as red panda, black-necked crane, white crane ect. Walking along the excellently designed walkways, you could have a good angle through the open enclosures of giant pandas.

Next, head to visit the Jinsha Site Runis, which is the museum established in the Jinsha ruins site, and is also a museum to show categories of ancient Shu culture in Sichuan area during Shang and Zhou dynasty.

In the afternoon, take the chance to visit the Wenshu Monastery. It is the best-preserved Buddhist temple in Chengdu. It is the home of the Buddhist Association of Sichuan Province and Chengdu City

The last stop for the tour is Jinli Ancient Street. It is “The First Street of Shu Kingdom”, and it’s a famous snack street in Chengdu. The ambiance was like stepping back into the past, well presented and historically brilliant. Evening stroll is extreme beautiful, and picturesque with the lanterns lit up and the street performances are also wonderful. 

D6 Chengdu

After breakfast, drive about 2 hours to visit the famous UNESCO site around Chengdu-Leshan Giant Buddha. Sitting on the confluence of three rivers in Leshan, the 71-meter-high Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest Maitreya Buddha statue carved out of a cliff in the world. Ancient wisdom and regilious faith of Buddhism created the giant and magnificent cultural treasure, and now is world-known as an amazing UNESCO Natural & Cultural Heritage property in Leshan, nearby Chengdu.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. It is the great technological achievement of ancient China. For more than 2,300 years of irrigation, Dujiangyan has benefited the local people just as it prevents Min River basin from annual flooding

After the tour, you will be taken back to your hotel in Chengdu.

Day 7 Chengdu--Chongqing

After breakfast, our guide will take you to experience real life in Chengdu at Renmin Park where you can see how locals spend thier leisure time, strolling in the park, you will see local people drinking tea, playing mahjong or cards, dancing, singing, and playing music.

After the tour, drop off at Chengdu train station for your train to Chongqing. It takes around 2 hours from Chengdu east train station. Once you arrive, our Chongqing local guide will meet you at the exit of the train station. You will be taken to Chongqing Chaotianmen cruise dock.

Day 8 Yangtze River Cruise

As the largest water system in China, Yangtze River is historically, economically and culturally important to the country. It has numerous tributaries including Min River, Han River, Jialing River, Gan River, and Huangpu River.

Upon you cruise along the Yangtze river, you will have an optional choice to take the excursion to visit the Fengdu Ghost City (at your own expense), visiting either the "Ghost City" known for its statues of ghosts and devils onMingshan Hill, or the new relocation village, built for families who have moved as a result of the Yantgze's rising waters brought by the Three Gorgres Dam.

In the afternoon, take the shore excurison to visit the Shibaozhai Pagoda, reputed as “Pearl of the Yangtze River”, has been praised as one of the “Top 7 Wonders in China” and the “World 8 Strange Constructions” by the US Discovery Channel. This pagoda is a red wooden pagoda built along the cliff facing with the Yangtze River. It is 12 storeys in total, with a height of 56 meters and the whole pagoda was made of wooden, without using any single nail in the construction. Travelers need to climb up to the pagoda where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the view in a different angle.

You will enjoy the Captain’s Welcome Party during the night, take part in the Crew cabaret and other evening entertainments.

Day 9 Yangtze River Cruise

Following the ship, and you will enter the Qutang Gorge. The Qutang Gorge is the shortest and most spectacular of China's Three Gorges. The combination of narrow canyons among high mountains with several switchbacks in only 8 kilometres creates spectacular vistas, and the Qutang Gorge is often considered the most beautiful of all the Three Gorges. Although it is primarily famous for its scenery, the Three Gorges region is also a historically and culturally important location in China.

Today, you will have chance to visit the Shennv Stream or Godness stream, it is a primitive gorge newly opened for travelers. Close to Goddess Peak, Shennv Stream has a length of 15 kilometers and about 10 kilometers belongs to the original gorge. Experience will be similar to Shennnong Stream. You’ll first switch to a smaller boat from your ship and then sailing through Shennv Stream. Hanging coffins can be seen and Tujia minority singing and dancing show can be experienced.

White Emperor City is usually served as an optional excursion for a cruise. Located on the north side of Qutang Gorge, White Emperor City offers the best angle to view the magnificent Kui Gate. Known as the Poem City, White Emperor City has attracted many poets come and left many famous poems. What makes this place known to outside is the historical story of “Entrusting Zhuge Liang with an Orphan in Baidi Town”.

Return to the ship at the appointed time. Stay overnight on the ship.

Day 10 Yichang Depature

Today, you will pass through the Xiling Gorge. It is the largest and most downstream—eastern of the famous Three Gorges.

The last destination is Three Gorge Dam, it is the world’s largest hydropower project and most notorious dam. As well as producing electricity, the dam is intended to increase the Yangtze River's shipping capacity and reduce the potential for floods downstream by providing flood storage space.

Upon cruise arrival in Yichang. Transfer from cruise to airport or train station for your next destination.
